The Carnaby Jacket

Carnaby is a jacket that's perfect for summer. It's spun with both silk and linen so it's super soft and lightweight to wear. And because of its blazer-inspired shape, it can be styled to suit slightly dressier occasions just as much as it can be a bit of a throw-on. Here are some of our favourite ways to wear it as well as a few style notes from Really Wild's founder and chief designer - Natalie Lake.

How to wear: The Carnaby Jacket - Go Boho

Go Boho

Bohemian doesn't have to mean fringing, tousled hair or tiered and ruffled maxi skirts. It's grown up a lot since then. The more comtemporary interpretations of bohemian style are much more free and easy - in that you can hone in on one or two boho-inspired elements as opposed to top-to-toe.

Notes from Natalie

"Carnaby works beautifully when paired with folksy prints and cuts. It's the contrast that I love. The 'folk' line of our Liberty shirts with their flared cuffs in finishes such a Moroccan Henna and Strawberry Paisley are given a touch of structure with Carnaby worn over the top. It's an elegant and more mature interpretation of the 'boho chic' trend. For me, it feels much more natural and less try-hard."

Blue on Blue

Double denim are two words that are quite contentious in the world fashion. It divides opinion and has done for decades. But don't let it dissuade you from teaming jeans with a jacket in a similar denim tone.

Notes from Natalie

"We've used a blue pigment on the Carnaby's natural yarns that's similar to a mid-wash denim shade. You might glance and presume it's denim, but when you look closer you'll notice movement so fluid that you'll know it simply can't be. Sit it against a pair of jeans and that difference in weight and texture becomes slightly more apparent. It's a really smart point of difference in an outfit. Always choose a slightly lighter shade of blue for your jeans though to avoid it becoming one mass of the same tone."

How to wear: The Carnaby Jacket - From Shirt to skirt

From shirt to skirt

Many people find day desses a little more tricky to dress with a jacket in summer months but Carnaby is just perfect with a flippy-style skirt or dress. It comes back to boho. The softness-meets-structure points apply just as much with a skirt as they do a shirt.

Notes from Natalie

"I blended the silk threads principally used in Carnaby with a touch of linen so that it balances luxury and formaility with a more relaxed feeling and everyday purpose. So it really works well with daywear pieces such as our Liberty flippy skirt in Morrocan Henna. Suddenly it takes on a whole new character. Team it with plimsolls and it dresss it back down, but wear it with ballet pumps or a low heel and it's certainly something you could wear to the office in early summer. I've worn the corresponding shirt in this ensemble so it appears as though it's a dress, and Carnaby works perfectly well in this scenario too."
